The New York Jets may have dodged a major bullet.
However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets have avoided the worst-case scenario.
Per Schefter, Wilson was diagnosed with a bone bruise and a meniscus tear. Wilson will undergo arthroscopic surgery, which will determine whether he misses two or four weeks of action.
The second overall pick in the 2021 draft, Wilson started 13 games last season, finishing with 2,334 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
While Wilson is out, the Jets will turn the quarterbacking reigns to veteran Joe Flacco.
The 14-year veteran has played sparingly in recent years, starting just five games since 2019.
Nevertheless, the Jets reportedly have confidence in the former Super Bowl MVP.
Flacco started one game for the Jets in 2021. The former first-round pick went 24-of-39, throwing for 291 yards, with two touchdowns and zero interceptions in a 24-17 Week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
